Dear Diocesan Family:

We are pleased to announce that Bishop Allen L. Bartlett has agreed to be the Assisting Bishop Pro Tempore while we maintain our search for an Assisting Bishop. We continue to work with Bishop Clay Matthews of the Presiding Bishop’s Office in this endeavor.

Bishop Bartlett begins his ministry as the Assisting Bishop Pro Tempore today. He will be in the office at Church House on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. His primary areas of responsibilities will be pastoral care to the clergy and the administration of Church House. Bp. Bartlett is clear about the role the Standing Committee will continue to exercise as the Ecclesiastical Authority of the diocese and looks forward to working with us in this interim period. Further information will be forthcoming.

Bishop Edward Lee will continue his oversight of campus ministry and has agreed to oversee the ordination process as well. We thank him for this.

These bishops and Bishop Franklin Turner will continue their parish visitation schedules.

Concerned Pennsylvania Episcopalians (CPE) is open to any Episcopalian who is concerned about the spiritual and financial health of the Diocese of the Pennsylvania. CPE is a volunteer coalition. It is not a membership organization. People attend meetings, they do not join. In fact we do not even have a list of people who have come to meetings. Some people have come to one meeting, and some of have come to many meetings. The meetings of the CPE are open. To find the schedule of the next meeting simply click “meetings”on this website. The website is an information site that raises concerns and questions about the Diocese’s mission and priorities affecting men and women, and youth in the parish pew.

Concerned Pennsylvanians Episcopalians (CPE) is a voluntary coalition of people of the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania who take seriously the promises we have made to God and to Jesus Christ at the time of Baptism: "(to) strive for justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every human being."

We are concerned for the wholeness of the Diocese's spiritual and financial health which has been fractured by Diocesan leadership that does not listen or encourage consensus building. Our purpose is to uncover and reveal the truth via positive actions to all people in the Diocese which support a wide variety parish ministries, congregational development, engage in efforts that adhere to our Baptismal Covenant, and reach out to the poor, disenfranchised and discriminated in our communities.

We are an inclusive coalition representing diverse cultural, theological, social, geographic, and economic perspectives within our Diocese, prophetically crossing these boundaries and also those demographics of race, sex, age and place of worship.
